@This was still at the GCC 2.95.2 level. GCC 3.1 has really subsumed
the optimization work the PGCC group did based on the closed development
GCC versions.

@The Pentium Compiler GROUP's PGCC

The Pentium Compiler Group was formed to create a version of GCC supporting
x86 specific optimizations. Their work is based off of Cygnus's EGCS
compiler suite.

WWW: http://www.goof.com/pcg/

Beware: This port installs new versions of "gcc", "g++", "c++", "egcc",
"eg++" and so forth into the "${PREFIX}/bin" directory.
Mind your PATHs if you don't want to use this compiler by default.

What is the Pentium GCC Workgroup for?

The PCG was created because all the patched GCC's are somewhat unstable
(i.e. they cannot compile some programs) and somewhat insecure (they
sometimes generate wrong code, although this goes unnoticed in many cases!).

The PWG wants to

o improve the stability of the compiler
o enhance the quality of the generated code (better optimizations)
o get cygnus and/or gnu to include some optimizations in the
	  "official" GNU cc

1.1.1.1
log
@pgcc-current is a developer release of gcc 2.7.2 with pentium
optimizations. The motivation to make a separate pgcc port is, to
provide two versions, an official release, which is missing the
leading edge of developement and an interesting current version,
which fixes some things and might breake (or not) others.

Fact is, that one is able to compile and run a complete FreeBSD-current
kernel without trouble and so closes 2 PR's.
